wood 99.6 -> 100 on friday, smithing 57 -> 60 on saturday, and gold 57 -> 60 on sunday.

many things to all my friends and LS for all their help, especially Seriha, Ayn, Darkshire, and Argentina.

nothing left to skill on atreides but fishing makes me sad, but there's always my mule ^^

Stay tuned for Jerriblank's adventures in Goldsmithing.

  Finally I'm making my first adventures into the world of high level synthesis. I mean, I've tried a few elemental staves before but they're all been NQ... I think I'm 0/7 on them ; ;

Soooo Friday was kinda uneventful. I figured I'd go chocodigging and make some money but alas, Friday chocodigging sucks because it's pretty much daytime saturday in japan by the time I get home. Made a little money, bleh.

Saturday nothing much happened, Kirin run was cancelled so I continued my do-nothing chocobo digging ways. Darksday rolled around (waxing gibbous) and my friend from LS asked me to try 3 gendawas (cap 93), so I hauled over to Sandy but didn't have any luck with HQ.

But, Saturday was also full moon! Now, a lot of people seem to think new moon is best for HQ but I don't really necessarily agree. In my experience New Moon is only really good for quantity HQ (HQ2 or HQ3) but you're not as likely to HQ, while Full Moon is better for HQ1... I'll still have to test this of course. If you think about it in terms of mining, darksday is always a high chance for nothing but a high chance for the rarest ores, while full moon is just really nice mining results. The only problem I have with this is that it seems weird that Full Moon would be best for both success AND HQ, hmm.

Anyway, Full Moon Iceday comes around and my friend mentions he has materials for 3 more gendawa attempts. I haul ass back to sandy, and HQ the 2nd one :D Congrats to Titania on a shiny new Gendawa +1! I think our 80 bajillion rangers are now collecting materials for next full moon iceday, lol.

I've been waiting a while for Full Moon Lightsday to make 2 shura haidates for 2 of the SAMs in LS, and that was also saturday evening. I was really only going for success... and thankfully I didn't fail either lumber synth, and got an NQ haidate for Xaekid. Klades' haidate however...

Image hosted by Photobucket.com

I pretty much soiled myself. I think that's the 2nd one that's ever been made on fairy. Not bad for my 2nd try, eh?

Other than that not much happened. Bought 5 or 6 adaman ingots (thanks plash for the cheapo one ^^) and got 2 skillups, putting me at 99.2 woodworking, as well as some smithing skillups from the iron splitters which put me at 55.6 or so. Made some gold earrings with ingots I had saved and got that to 56.4, and worked on guild points for woodworking (89000 out of 150k towards drafting desk). Oh and there were 2 adamantiose/aspi camps in there somewhere, heh.

Next Full Moon Iceday is this wednesday, I'm contemplating asking for the day off from work (I think there's going to be a patch that day anyway) but my boss is going to be out of the office on monday and I'd have to ask tuesday. Supposedly Tuesday is also the day the prospect of my permanent employment is discussed, so perhaps asking for a day off 1 day in advance isn't the wisest of things... I guess we'll know tomorrow whether or not there's a patch which will pretty much make my decision for me.

Next goal is a signed apollo's staff for personal use, go go banishburn atreides :D

  Woodworking 99 GET

I think I may have unintentionally jacked up the price on adaman ingots, bleh 400k now. I bought a few just for the sake of hitting 99, time to take a small break to make some money before I start the push for 100. I don't really feel like investing in adaman that much anymore, I'm gonna see how far I can get off Kinkobo with the few primate staves I have and can pick up at the AH. Currently about halfway to my furniture item, hopefully I'll be 100 by the time I get that.

Oooh and I hit 56 smithing off the iron splitter that put me at 99 woodworking D:
Yesterday I met my dad for dinner (Thai food) and he convinced me that father's day was this weekend. Realizing I never bought my grandfather a card I ran to CVS and noticed the little sign above the card aisle stating Father's Day was in fact the 19th. So I called my dad, told him he was nab, and just bought cards anyway.

Today is shitty and rainy and I almost crashed my fucking car in this big moonson-y downpour on the highway. Then I passed a Geo Tracker that had it's roof all mangled by a fallen traffic light. I didn't know whether to be concerned about the occupant's health or happy that nature wrecked a Geo. Anywho today sucks, I need caffeine, and I forgot to pay all my bills which I need to do like pronto.

This weekend? I assume kirin and dynamis and some other fun stuff. I need to work on goldsmithing and maybe start smithing sub on my goldsmithing mule, and of course a healthy amount of chocodigging.
At 99 woodworking, 56 smithing, and 55.3 goldsmithing, I have less than 10 craftskill points possible on Atreides. Kinda a scary thought @_@

And I think Arvin no longer wants to make babies ; ;

.6 rise in woodworking skill yesterday off of only 10-11 synths at 90+ is so very very wrong. Spent about 3.5 mil to get to 98.7 but it's a "bargain" since I "only" spent 1/2 of what I had originally estimated. Squeeee~

worked on blacksmithing/goldsmithing some too, smithing 55.4 goldsmithing 55.3.

Points remaining til all crafts maxed:

Woodworking: 1.2
Smithing: 4.6
Goldsmithing: 4.7

TOTAL: 10.5

didn't do much yesterday but craft, surprise surprise :P

  wooo crafting update:

Woodworking - 98.1 - Picked up some lancewood logs over the weekend at about 200k each and got no skillups off them. Blah. Lycurgus told me they were crappy skill from what he'd heard, he's correct about that -_- I think I'm just about ready to get smithing a bit closer to 60 and just plunk down scads of money into Iron Splitters. All work and no skillups make atreides go crazy...

Currently ~65k guild points saved towards Drafting Desk, woo~

Goldsmithing - 54.9 - I've been holding on to these gold ingots for a booty long time, making them in to earrings is like finding money in your pants pocket as you do laundry. Gold's gonna take a while to cap out but meh, it's not even that important.

Smithing - 55.2 - At the advice of Seriha i've decided to get smithing closer to cap before making iron splitters. Got some great darksday skills and now I'm up to darksteel bolt heads... which I can't really make more of until my sandy mule moves all the tiger leather I have leftover from my big orgy-like push for Leathercraft 60.

That's about it really.. only ~12 craftskill points possible to get on atreides. My mule is next, she's at Goldsmithing 50.7 with ~35k Guild points towards sunglasses. I'm pretty sure I can get her at least to 80 (through the "hell stage" of goldsmithing) through stuff I find chocodigging which is nice. After that I'll probably start on an Alchemy mule, and then maybe smithing if I haven't died, lol.

Do I even want to XP anymore? I should start getting merits at some point, cap out WHM and NIN subs. Today I realized that no matter what I'll do, I'll never get a Suppanomi cuz I was retarded and picked Knight's Earring for my WHM... gg... so much for WHM/NIN pwnage ; ;

At some point with all this crafting I should find time to complete promathia missions and have arvin's babies in Ru'Hmet.

RL stuff... nothing much to report... it's hot as hell here and everyone at work mysteriously vanished for the day. I'll probably cut out early and get gas for my car or stop at starbucks or something. I still haven't seen Star Wars III which concerns me, I'll have to hound one of my friends to fucking see it finally omg.

No news on whether or not my job will ever become permanent, it's been 7 months. If this was a pregnancy we'd have all the fucking baby furniture picked out and the fucking nursery would be painted already, lol. Part of me wants them to not hire me so I can go live near my college friends in virginia, but finding a job down there is kinda blah.

I also realized today that there are like... 0 attractive people at work. Which sucks since I have like nothing to gawk at all day, but on the up side at least I can say I'm the hottest person at work and not sound like a vain asshole. Am I going to hell?

  aaaaaaaaaaaaand another sub done, leathercraft 60! anyone need 14 stacks of tiger leather? >_>;;

all i have left is goldsmithing (currently 54.3) and smithing (currently 50.0). I have a bunch of gold ingots saved on my mule to make earrings to 57 and then I’ll have to sink some gil into platinum ingots (perhaps I’ll start gardening nuggets, hmm). Smithing doesn’t seem too bad, after I cap out on darksteel ingots at 51 things will go quite a bit faster to 60… assuming I skip darksteel bolt heads.

I was kinda sad to find out two other people in the same woodworking level range as me buy out their dynamis shells supply of lancewood logs, leaving me to fend for myself at the AH (check the price history of lauan logs if you want to see how I got facepwned btw >_>). BUT tonight is dynamis-beaucedine and Sunday is dynamis-windurst, so hopefully I’ll get a few logs to try and get closer to 99 with.

Question for you synthesis fiends out there (seriha)… in your opinion should I purposely leave my smithing skill low for when I make iron splitters (wood 100 smithing 60)? The idea being to induce failure (and skill off failure) and chance losing the ingot as opposed to a succesful synth which would be a 300k loss. I’m really not to sure what level to leave smithing at if I go this route, I was thinking around 53 would be a good place to force failures and keep them from being overwhelmingly critical. Thoughts?

  miscalculated in my last post...

for 98-100 the cost per adaman ingot is 300k, not 100k. It takes 3 adaman + 1 iron to make an ingot, not 1 adaman 3 iron...

Sooooooo instead of 8 mil to get from 98-100 it's gonna be more like 24 mil. lol...

Maybe Ill look into doing lancewood logs (if I can convince friends doing dynamis-windy to sell them to me) until 99 or primate staves (gotta research), then upcraft the primate staves from 99-100 (cap at 103) to kinkobo. Blahhhhh

Currently 96.1, 4800/150000 guild points towards drafting desk.

*sigh*

chocobo digging LEVEL FUCKING 10!!!!!

Soooo I hit lvl 10 chocobo digging last weekend (2 weekends ago?), which was freaking awesome. Currently I'm the 2nd NA on fairy to do this, the first is a really nice girl (french-canadian, does this even count as NA? can I be 1st? lol) named Meomeo. it's been pretty nice, although i still haven't had any luck with digging elemental ore, blah.

Woodworking is my big priority now, I managed to circumvent one level of cythara angelica (60k loss per synth) by making bookshelves from 94-95. A breakdown of 95-100...

95-98 Cythara Angelica...

Ancient Lumber x2 = 40k
Ebony Lumber x2 = 20k
Couerl Whisker + crystal cost = 1k
=61k per synth (NPC for 5.5 or try to desynth...)

x40 synths per level = 2,440,000 gil per level x 3 levels = 7,320,000 gil

98-100 Iron Splitters

Adaman Ingot = 100k
Walnut Lumber x2 + crystal cost = ~2k
=102k per synth (try to get HQ3 from desynth for 6 adaman nuggets)

x 40 synths per level = 4,080,000 gil per level x 2 levels = 8,160,000 gil

7,320,000 (lvls 95-98) + 8,160,000 (lvls 98-100) = ~15.5 mil to get to 100 from 95. yeah...

the good news is I can save some money by HQing my lumber, desything everything (generally nets more than NPCing), and having a friend make adaman nuggets/ores into ingots for iron splitters. I dont think this will lower the 15.5 mil estimate as I think 40 synths per level is perhaps a tad optomistic.

I suppose this isn't anywhere near as bad as 50+ clothcraft, or goldsmithing 70-80, or nearly any part of high level leathercraft, but still... yipes. At least I get to NPC or desynth everything, my skillup rate is really only dictated by availability of materials and how fast I feel like pouring money into it.

Other projects:
-Just started working on drafting desk (my last guild point item) 2,080/150,000 lol
-Leveling my mule's goldsmithing, she's at 50.5 now. I'm about 20k/70k on her sunglasses.
-Capping out leathercraft (for shura togis) and smithing (which I need to get to 60 before wood98 since thats the subskill requirement for iron splitters ._.) and goldsmithing on atre...
-Maybe start an alchemy mule?
-I should probably get smn to 37 at some point, and some merits on atre. Bleh @ xp

Chocobo digging lvl 9

I’ve been going pretty crazy with crafting recently. After I completed the abysmal stretch of woodworking 70-90, where you can either fix Lu Shangs or make 18 bajillion commodes/cabinets, it went pretty quickly to 94. Now I’m faced with what’s considered the ‘hard’ phase of Woodworking (which, im convinced, is nothing compared to cloth or gold or smithing), probably a 15-20 million gil loss to cap at 100. Oh and I need to get smithing to 60 by 98.

Crafting has really been fun, I still have quite a bit to do (all of which will be easier when I get rid of the 45 stacks of fucking kabura arrows on my mule) but it’s by far my favorite activity in this game.

I think after capping out my main char’s crafts I’ll take goldsmithing to 100 on my mule, it’s currently at 39.something.

Other things….

I think I’m getting like… old or something. The other day we were going to start dynamis late because of server maintenance but I started getting panicky that it was going to run too late and got Darkshire to replace me. I kinda crafted and drifted in and out of sleep, then fell asleep chocobo digging XD

Last night one of our DRGs (okay, our only DRG lol) asked for help with impulse drive but it was already late. I remember walking back to my moghouse and falling asleep in the middle of transferring elm logs (doro: ERUMU ROGU) around. I woke up and it was 3 AM, I was laying on the floor fully clothed, cold as shit with the window open, and I apparently was having a horrible nasal drip allergy attack whooping cough thing. Fun.

Tonight is the new 18man Ouryu BCNM in riverne, I really can’t wait to try it. Hopefully we win, I’d love nothing more than to get some kunwu ore for our LS leader. And maybe my pessimism about it not dropping abjurations will be proved wrong…

Oooh and Sunday is our LSs first Dynamis Xarcabard…. Hopefully I don’t delevel, lol. Have I mentioned I hate Xping?

Maybe Saturday and part of Sunday I’ll go apeshit chocobo digging, I don’t think I’m very far from lvl 10 (highest level @_@) or start losing money on the final stretch of Woodworking…

BTW Odessa is fucking fired for still not fucking having CoP.

i dont post in this LJ nearly enough...

anyway

hit level 8 chocobo digging last night. soooo happyyyyy!!!! I hear you can really only get elemental ores when you're 9 or 10 (10 is the highest level) but maybe Ill try for some... if only I could figure out the conditions for digging them. I dug one once at level 6 (which everyone Ive talked to says is a big fluke) but I can't really figure out the pattern from one instance, hmm...

I think this weekend Ill work on getting woodworking to 84 or 85 (it's at 83.8) and then take a break to level bonecraft to 53 so I can skill on kabura arrows to wood91. 70-80 was a bitch, 80-mid90's seems to be going a lot quicker so far.

Kinda overwhelmed...
03:06pm 07/01/2005
I dunno...recently I'm getting that feeling I did when I first started playing...

I remember when I first starting playing ffxi I realized there was SO MUCH to do and so much I didn't know. I was so overwhelmed- so many possible choices I couldn't make up my mind. I guess that faded as I settled into a small social LS and committed myself to the grind.

It stayed that way for a looong time... Subjob >> Kazham Keys >> Extra jobs >> AF1 >> Genkai 1 >> AF armor- it was like I was following a set path, never really having the option or desire to do much of anything else. Sure, I could help friends in my level range do their stuff, or help lower leveled friends get stuff like Magicked skulls, but I somewhere along the line lost that feeling of always having something on my plate. Until recently.

Was I burnt out? Maybe. I was a lot more irritable about noobishness and general idiocy than I am now. I think that the grind to 65 or so really does put a lot of people off from the game- I guess I have the personality to either stick with it or not realize I'm burnt out, anyway.

So recently I joined an end-game LS which has been the greatest experience yet. It's a lot of fun socially, and we do lots of stuff... which leads to my next problem.

I have all this stuff that I want to get done now, want to experience, whatever:
-Finish WHM to 75 (50k xp to go~)
-Get SMN to 37 to use as a possible subjob
-ZM14, PM2.5, Bastok 9-1 and 9-1 then start on Windurst/Sandy missions
-Quests- new and old
-Level staff skill for retribution
-LS Events- hakutaku, avatar runs, God killing, sky farming, dynamis, etc.
-Crafting and chocobo digging

I feel the same sense of being overwhelmed as I did when I first started- I'll make these plans at work or when I'm not playing- and then come home and find people doing all sorts of fun stuff and instantly drop my plans to go join them. My crafting has suffered, and my schedule is so unknown now that I haven't xp'ed with my static in like 2 weeks.

I guess things will get better when I ding 75. I'll take SMN to 37 and then take a LOOOONG time off from the xp grind- because frankly it shouldn't be the most important part of this game. There's so much left to see and do, so many impossible missions to complete and difficult monsters to defeat that I really don't want to miss it.

So I guess I owe a big thank you to my new LS ThoseGuys for rekindling my interest in this game. And to all my friends, those still playing and those who have left, for always being there to support me through my long period of being burnt out. I can't wait to see what else is in store!

Chocobo Digging Level 3!!!
12:00pm 06/01/2005
You ever have one of those FFXI days where you've been playing for a while but realize you've accomplished little to nothing? And no I'm not speaking about feeling like your efforts in the game are insignificant in comparison to RL concerns- I mean running all over Vanadiel and realizing you haven't A) made money B) leveled C) helped anyone D) etc?

Yesterday was sorta one of those days I guess.

I logged in and headed over to kazham area for Chocobo Digging, something I've grown more and more attached to (even though the number of stacks of gysahl greens I've gone through is ridiculous- at least 200 or more) and leveled to rank 3 or the 3rd chocobo digging level. Chocobo Digging is weird in that it is a skill (with hidden levels measured by wait after zoning to first dig and time between digs, as well as item frequency)- but as I said it's all hidden. Anywho, the digging was great and I got my level. For reference purposes (from ffxi.somepage.com/chocobo)

Level Time Between Digs Time After Zone
Level 1 16 seconds 60 seconds
Level 2 11 seconds 60 seconds
Level 3 6 seconds 60 seconds
Level 4 0 seconds 50 seconds
Level 5 0 seconds 40 seconds
Level 6 0 seconds 30 seconds
Level 7 0 seconds 25 seconds
Level 8 0 seconds 20 seconds
Level 9 0 seconds 15 seconds
Level 10 0 seconds 10 seconds

Other than that I didn't do much else- I tried to dig again in altepa but there was a high-level JPN digger who had "dug up" everything. I headed to Sandy and tried to hit level 73 Woodworking but didn't get a single skillup on the 8 commodes I made (on darksday -_-). Headed to Windurst and made some bone chip's I've been saving (from digging and xp'ing on skeletons in KRT) into Gelatin and hit bonecraft 16. I guess that's something...

My LS (ThoseGuys) is planning a Black Halo (club 230 weaponskill) run on Friday, and I've been trying to skill up from 225 to 230 and break the latent on the trial weapon to participate. On monday Elenuial was nice enough to help me reach 227.5 but I was unable to find any skillup parties (and the LS was all busy ; ;) so I just kinda run around my moghouse and spammed the "Change jobs" button to make my moogle spin around. I think **maybe** if I can find LS-mates to help I can get the 2.5 points I need tonight and at least start on the Latent- it's still possible to go on the run but I'm going to need help.

Then there was some drama involving another HNM LS that had everyone atitter. Fairy is all about the drama. /popcorn

I think I was getting pretty tired at that point and made some lumber to try and get bonecraft to 20 (bone picks) but I passed out on the airship and woke up at like 4 AM with the TV, lights, and PS2 still on...

In any event, tonights goals are to:
1) Choco dig for about 30 mins
2) Try to work on bone picks with all the lumber and giant femurs clogging my inventory
3) Skill up, if not get the 9k exp needed to ding 74 (more on end-game thoughts later...)
4) Sleep? Do people still do this anymore?

I think my dad is forcing me to see him for dinner tonight. He's been paying my car lease (which I'm not going to argue with) and needs me to pick up the check at dinner. I'd really like to hit 230 club but alas, having a car to get to work is more important ~_~. Oh how I miss the days of no job and 24/7 ffxi...

  Hello!

I decided to make an ffxi journal after a long period of meaning-to-do-so-but-always-forgetting-or-getting-lazy. Well, actually it's because I'm really bored today at work (boss is gone, i have this huge pile of stuff but I don't know how to do it), and I have a few friends on here as well.

A couple of noobish questions about LJ.

1) How do I put links in my posts linking to other users' journals? can I just use [ url=]name of person[/ url] (without the spaces)? I post on other boards but the lack of coding help on this site baffles me...

2) And how do I insert images >_<

3) Is there any way to change the colors and formatting on my journal page?

That's about it, any tips would be much appreciated...

Something FFXI-related to follow soon ^^
